Otakon 2007
And so almost a month passed since Otakon and I finally got my lazy ass to sit down and write my experience.
Friday:
We got up early and set off at 4 AM to drive from NJ to Baltimore. This time I took my car. Early traffic was very light so we got there pretty early. However, we had to wait longer for the convention to start so we waited in line pretty close to the entrance (we stood just around the corner). Thing were getting interesting as I noticed that a person next to me inline was from the same Japanese class from the same University that I graduated. Yup, small world. So after we got in and got our badges, the first real event was the Overclocked panel. I missed last year’s panel due to lack of good planning, so yeah, this year’s panel was pretty interesting. One of the panelists was pretty interesting as well…pretty interesting indeed….
Afterwards, we got accustomed to the layout and the schedule a bit. I noticed that they moved the dealers room which made it impossible for us to get into for a few hours. It’s okay, it’s not like we were going to miss anything. Everything this year seemed a bit more organized with one big exception. The schedules they handed out, were pretty much useless because due to last minute changes, all the panels were moved around. THANKS 4CHAN FOR RUINING OTAKON ![]()
Anyway, friday was somewhat dull mainly because most events were scheduled on saturday. So we eventually made it to the dealers and I made half of my purchases. I think i got stuck browsing a h doujin section for a couple hours. Before going to eat (late) lunch, we went over to our hotel which was about 30 minutes away from baltimore. After we checked in we ate lunch and went to see some other panels which i can’t really recall right now. Before the day was done, i met up with some of my net buddies (saber, ixnorp, etc) and hung out a bit at their hotel. Finally, we left when we felt we had to go so we can get up and crashed at the hotel…
